Aaron Brooks set to take on Rutgers' Brian Soldano in quarterfinals at Big Ten Tournament
No. 1 seed Aaron Brooks wants to win another Big Ten title for Penn State and he has his opponent for the quarterfinals Saturday. No. 8 seed Brian Soldano (Rutgers) advanced with a 4-2 victory over Illinois’ Dylan Connell.
This is the second time Brooks will take on Soldano this season. Brooks took down Soldano 18-3 (tech fall) in February when Penn State defeated Rutgers.
Brooks is the two-time defending national champion and previously won two Big Ten titles.
The Nittany Lion needs to take down Soldano to begin his quest for a third conference crown. Brooks lost to Myles Amine of Michigan in last season’s Big Ten finals but got his revenge in the NCAA finals in Detroit. The two-time champion for Penn State is just 9-1 this season, but the overwhelming favorite to win another Big Ten title.
