WATCH: Cam Wynter drains game-winning three-pointer in overtime vs. Northwestern
It is officially March, ladies and gentlemen. And that means plenty of buzzer beaters and chaotic finishes. The Penn State Nittany Lions found some freon in their veins when they needed it the most on Wednesday evening in overtime against Northwestern. PSU’s Cam Wynter drilled a wide open three pointer from the corner to lift the Nittany Lions to a 68-65 victory.
Check out the game-winning dagger that he nailed below.
Not only did Wynter deliver the game-winner with 0.7 seconds left in the game, but he also poured in 24 points for the Nittany Lions, and in doing so propelled them to a critical victory that kept their slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive. In ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s latest version of Bracketology, he slotted Penn State as one of the “Next Four Out” teams, meaning they still have plenty of work left to do to get into the Big Dance.
He torched the nets from beyond-the-arc against Northwestern, drilling four of his five shots from three-point range. He also hit nine of his 15 field goal attempts.
Wynter also stuffed the stat sheet with four rebounds and three assists on Wednesday night. In his past few games, the senior has poured in double digit performances against Rutgers (16 points), Ohio State (18 points), and Minnesota.
