Early odds, points spreads released for two Penn State football games
2022 was a great season for Penn State football. The Nittany Lions went 10-2 during the regular season, only losing to Big Ten East rivals and College Football Playoff semifinalists, Ohio State and Michigan. From there, Penn State went to and won the Rose Bowl.
There are incredibly high expectations for Penn State in 2023. To reach those expectations the Nittany Lions are going to need to find a way to beat Ohio State and Michigan. However, according to early odds released by FanDuel, Penn State is an underdog in each of those two games.
Here are the odds:
- +7 vs. Ohio State
- +1 vs. Michigan
Michigan ran Penn State out of the Big House last season. With the game set to be played in Happy Valley next season, though, the Nittany Lions should be able to keep it much closer according to Vegas. Then, Penn State will also be traveling to Ohio State to take on the Buckeyes. There, the Nittany Lions hope to break a six-game losing streak to Ohio State.
Penn State has a lot of young talent on its roster. The most important player in 2023 is going to be quarterback Drew Allar, though. A five-star quarterback in the Class of 2022, Allar could be the piece that takes the Nittany Lions to the next level.
Also of note, there is still a lot of time between now and when those games are played. This means that things can change between Spring and Summer practices, not to mention the transfer portal. Plus, neither of these games will be played in week one. Injuries and in-season performance will undoubtedly affect these lines ahead of the games.

Nick Singleton was named one of the best running backs of 2023
Nick Singleton was a revelation as a freshman for Penn State. Now, he’s been named one of the best running backs in 2023 by On3.
“Another of the freshman phenoms last year, Singleton sure didn’t look like a freshman,” the article reads.
“At 6-foot, 219 pounds he packed a serious punch and Penn State wasn’t afraid to use it. A veritable battering ram at times, Singleton amassed 1,061 yards and 12 touchdowns on just 156 carries as a true freshman.”
