In the first quarter of Penn State vs. Indiana on Saturday, Harrison ‘Trey’ Wallace went to catch a pass from Drew Allar which fell incomplete. After the play, he stayed down on the turf at Beaver Stadium and headed to the locker room during the TV timeout.

Wallace later came out in a sling during the second quarter as he deals with a shoulder injury. He wasn’t wearing his jersey or pads, and his day is over.

Wallace has the third-most receiving yards for the Nittany Lions this year, totaling 161 yards across six games this season. Last week against Ohio State, he had two receptions for 19 yards in the Nittany Lions’ 20-12 loss to the Buckeyes in Columbus.

Wallace’s biggest game of the year came in the opener against West Virginia when he had seven receptions for 72 yards. He still doesn’t have a touchdown yet this year.

Penn State dropped to 6-1 with last week’s loss, and after punting the ball away to Indiana, DeQuece Carter rattled off a 90-yard touchdown reception give the Hoosiers a 7-0 lead. However, the Nittany Lions were able to capitalize on a muffed punt in the first quarter when Allar found Khalil Dinkins for a game-tying touchdown with 1:37 left in the quarter.

Harrison ‘Trey’ Wallace isn’t the only injury Penn State has to overcome this week

The Nittany Lions went into Saturday’s game shorthanded already. One of their top defenders, EDGE Chop Robinson, is out for the game after leaving last week on a cart. It’s a big loss for the defense, but James Franklin previously said the hope is to get him back at some point in the near future.

“And with Chop we hope to get him back sooner rather than later, but I don’t have any of that information right now,” Franklin said.

One of the things that Franklin had said might get Robinson back on the field quicker is the fact that he’s a veteran. The more knowledge he feels a player has and the more football they have under their belts, the easier it is to return on a shorter timeframe.

That could certainly help get Robinson on the field a little quicker.

“I think a little bit too is how veteran of a player is it in terms of how much practice time they miss and how much football they’ve played here,” James Franklin said. “That plays a part into it as well. But we have played a ton of guys at defensive end. There’s also a young guy that we’ve been excited about who’s coming on, that’s Jameial Lyons, so that plays a part in it as well.”
