3-star CB Kenny Woseley commits to Penn State: 'They made me feel like a priority'
Philadelphia Imhotep Institute three-star cornerback Kenny Woseley most recently went to Penn State on Jan. 28. Following that visit, he knew his “mind was made” up.
Woseley has been to State College five times. But his trip for the Nittany Lions’ Junior Day was different because head coach James Franklin and his staff “showed me on that visit that I should be there.” It ended up being a key reason why he committed to Penn State on Friday.
“The communication was always there, but it changed the last few months,” Woseley told On3. “I was one of their top guys. They made me feel like a priority and this is a perfect fit. They were my fourth offer. They are an in-state school, they want me and I want to be there.”
Woseley’s recruitment is now shut down. He is locked in on helping the Nittany Lions build a strong 2024 recruiting class.
Getting to play less than three hours from his family is a big plus for the 5-foot-11, 165-pound defensive back. He also likes how Franklin runs his program.
“It is about the culture at Penn State,” said Woseley, the No. 530 overall prospect and No. 48 cornerback in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. “Yes, the coaches care, but it is the culture coach James Franklin has created that is the difference from Penn State and the other schools on my list. Alumni come back, people love to be there and there is a strong bond throughout the program.”
Penn State’s coaching staff made a difference for Woseley
Franklin played a big role in why Woseley chose to stay in-state for his college football career. His honesty stands out to the three-star.

“He is real,” Woseley said. “He keeps it real. On my last visit, he told me that it isn’t always peaches and cream at Penn State. He made it clear that he will always coach me and his players hard and I want that. I know coach Franklin will be real from the jump. He is not looking to be my friend, but he wants to make me better on and off the field. I love what he is about.”
Franklin is not the only Penn State coach that Woseley talks with. He also has bonds with cornerbacks coach Terry Smith and many defensive assistants, who he called “great people.”
In State College, Woseley believes he will be able to succeed at a high level on the field and in the classroom. He is looking forward to the day when he suits up in front of hundreds of thousands of fans at Beaver Stadium.
“The fan base is second to none,” Woseley said. “I have been to a white-out game and it is crazy. It is more than 100,000 people cheering for you and the Penn State fans care about their players. I can’t wait to play in that atmosphere.”
