Micah Shrewsberry opens up on Seth Lundy's shooting issues
Penn State was swept by Rutgers on the court this season, following their most recent loss. Late in January, the Nittany Lions lost on the road by 20 to the scarlet Knights 65- 45. On Sunday, Rutgers narrowly escaped with a road win at Bryce Jordan Center, 59- 56. Arguably the most significant contributor to Penn State’s defeat was the terrible shooting night Nittany Lions star wing Seth Lundy had. After the game, Penn State head coach Micah Shrewsberry opened up on Lundy’s shooting woes.
“He shot 16 shots and missed them all. There’s no science to it,” said Shrewsberry. “I thought he was rushing a little bit; he was a little too hyped to play this game. I kept telling him, ‘Hey, take a deep breath, settle down; it’s OK.
“Some of them were quick. But a lot of those he’s taken throughout the year, he’s made. It just wasn’t his night tonight.”
To say it was an off night for Lundy would be a severe understatement. The Nittany Lions wing was an atrocious 1-16 from the field and went 0-11 from downtown. However, he was able to go a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line and finish the game with seven points.

Penn State’s big three
This season Lundy along with below seniors Jalen Pickett and Andrew Funk have been Penn State’s go-to bucket getters. Funk is averaging just under 12 points a game at 11.8, for third best on the team. While Lundy is second on the team in points with 14.3, rebounds at 6.2, and steals at 0.8. Pickett leads the Nittany Lions in nearly every statistical category. He is averaging 18.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. These three are the main Penn State looking at a bid into this year’s men’s national tournament.
Penn States tournament hopes are still alive, but they will likely have to finish out the season with wins in their last two games. And that will not be an easy task. Before the Big Ten tournament gets underway, Penn State we’ll have to take on rival Northwestern on the road, followed by their season finale at home against the No. 21 ranked Maryland Terrapins.
