Olu Fashanu could’ve been a first-round NFL Draft pick last year. Instead, he chose to return to Penn State, and he has now made his decision on the 2024 NFL Draft.

Fashanu formally announced his intentions to enter the 2024 NFL Draft in a social media post Friday on X. Fashanu is considered one of the draft’s top left tackles in the country after he anchored the Nittany Lions offensive line in 2023.

For the second straight year, Fashanu didn’t allow a sack as he put together a clean sheet through 365 pass-blocking snaps. After the season, he won Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year honors and was a consensus First Team All-Big Ten selection. He also earned a spot on the Walter Camp All-American Team as a first team selection.

Along with Notre Dame’s Joe Alt, Olu Fashanu is viewed as one of the top draft-eligible tackles this year, and has been consistently at the top of Mel Kiper’s Big Boards. He found a way to improve his stock by returning to Penn State for 2023.

Penn State put together another 10-win season this year, finishing 10-2 overall to clinch a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl. The Nittany Lions are preparing to take on Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl Dec. 29 at noon ET.

More on the 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, with the first round on Thursday, April 25, the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.

The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.

Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.

The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
