On3 4-star WR Lyrick Samuel commits to Penn State
Brooklyn Erasmus Hall four-star wide receiver Lyrick Samuel has committed to Penn State.
He chose the Nittany Lions over the likes of Rutgers, Syracuse, Michigan State and West Virginia.
Samuel is the No. 517 overall prospect and No. 81 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in New York and checks in as a four-star recruit in the On300.

The 6-foot-3.5, 170-pounder has taken a bevy of trips out to Happy Valley, including visits in July and September of last year, as well as a Junior Day visit this January. He now joins a PSU class that tallies 11 other commitments.
“Coach Hagans and Coach Franklin are amazing to me,” Samuel told BWI in January. “They both noticed things about me from our interactions that weren’t on my highlight tape. Also, I am the oldest brother with a little sister and brother that look up to me. They treated them special, as did everyone on campus.”

The Nittany Lions’ class ranks just outside the top 10 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Five additional four-star recruits are in the mix for James Franklin and his staff. Jersey City (N.J.) Henry Snyder four-star linebacker DJ McClary headlines as a top-75 overall recruit.
He’s flanked by the likes of Beebe (Ark.) Woodlands four-star running back Kiandrea Barker, Pittsburgh Imani Christian four-star LB Dayshaun Burnett, Latrobe (Penn.) Greater four-star LB Alex Tatsch and Pittsburgh North Catholic four-star tight end Brady O’Hara. Samuel becomes the first wideout in the 2025 class for PSU.
