Penn State fans storm court after upset win against No. 8 Purdue
Penn State fans wasted little time find the center of the court inside Bryce Jordan Center after Penn State upset No. 8 Purdue 81-70 on Thursday.
The Nittany Lions took an early first half lead and never looked back as they improve to 8-1 on the young season, starting out Big Ten Conference play with a big-time upset win.
The scene after the game showcased how important the victory meant to the Nittany Lions faithful as the hot start to the 2024-25 campaign continues.
Penn State led the Boilermakers 40-24 at halftime and despite Purdue’s rally in the second half, the lead was too much for the No. 8 team in the country.
It’s the Nittany Lions’ first win over a top 10 opponent since Dec. 10, 2019 when Penn State defeated No. 4 Maryland, 78-61. This is now the best start to the season since 2014-15 for the Nittany Lions. That year’s team eventually started 12-1.
