Penn State continues to add to its top-15 class in the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

On Sunday, three-star Avon (Conn.) Old Farms offensive tackle Owen Aliciene announced his pledge to the Nittany Lions, giving them their eighth in the 2025 cycle.

“Happy Valley I’m home! Blessed to announce my commitment to the Pennsylvania State University,” he wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to everyone who has helped me through this process.”

The 6-foot-7, 270-pounder visited Happy Valley over the weekend for the program’s Junior Day event, and Penn State had been one of his main contenders since he visited over the summer.

“The camp was really fun and competitive, which was one of the best parts,” Aliciene told Blue WhiteIllustrated at the time, when asked what stood out about both camp and the Lasch Bash. “There were a lot of great players out there who were all working hard. My second highlight would probably be how they made it fun for everyone, including families, with the yard games and the great food they served us. The third would be meeting with O-line staff. It’s always great to connect with them and see what they have to say about my development.”

Alicene gives Penn State its first offensive line commit

The Nittany Lions already have commitments at quarterback, running back, linebacker and in the secondary, but Alicene is their first this cycle along the offensive line.

He is as the No. 530 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The Connecticut-based standout also ranks as the country’s No. 37 offensive tackle and No. 5 player in the state.

In total, he has amassed nearly 20 offers, including Penn State and Duke, as well as Boston CollegeKentuckyLouisvillePittsburgh and Rutgers.

But his relationship with offensive line coach Phil Trautwein is one of the key factors that had Penn State in the mix early on.

“I like the fact that he is a coach who knows how to connect with players in not only football but also life,” Aliciene said. “His reputation from others is very high, which makes it easy to trust what he says. He also is very encouraging and a great guy to talk to.”
