Penn State just broke open their game vs. MAC foe Ohio. With a few minutes left in the first quarter, the Nittany Lions ran a handoff for freshman running back Nicholas Singleton, who broke towards the sidelines, tight-roped his way past a few Bobcat defenders and left everyone in the dust for a 70-yard touchdown.

What a blast from the rookie. After 10 carries and 31 yards a week ago, Singleton finally busted a long one. Take a gander:

Had to be a ballerina to stay in bounds, then turned into an olympic sprinter as he rifled down the sideline towards six points. Two-touchdown lead for the Lions to end the first quarter. And hello Nicholas Singleton.

Penn State football is looking good through two weeks.

Five-star running back Nicholas Singleton of Governor Mifflin high school (PA) was the nation’s No. 27 overall prospect, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. On3 ranks Hunter as the No. 16 player overall and the top-ranked player in Pennsylvania.

Penn State records safety after terrific punt

PSU’s special teams unit is making a difference vs. the Ohio Bobcats. After a Nittany Lions drive stalled out around the 50-yard-line, James Franklin sent out the punting unit, which did its job flawlessly.

Here was the boot, which bounced straight up after landing inside the one-yard-line.

Heck of a kick by No. 96 Barney Amor. And the very next play, backed up in their own end zone, Ohio ran a read option that failed disastrously. The Nittany Lions were all over it, forcing a fumble that Ohio recovered in the end zone, just making it a safety for Penn State.

Here was that play.

Everything going Penn State’s way in their Week 2 battle with Ohio. Already up three scores on the Bobcats with the game barely out of the first quarter.
