Penn State head coach James Franklin continues to surprise, that’s for certain. On Saturday afternoon, with his team absolutely throttling the Maryland Terrapins, 21-0, Franklin was assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. That fired him up and he randomly decided to drop down and do 15 push-ups on the sideline.

Check it out below.

Penn State dominated the game in every way imaginable on Saturday night–prevailing 30-0.

Nittany Lions freshman running back Nicholas Singleton continues to put up amazing numbers during his debut season of college football. On Saturday afternoon, the explosive freshman ripped off a 45-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter to give the Nittany Lions a 14-0 lead against the Maryland Terrapins.

The touchdown run by Singleton put the Nittany Lions up 14-0 with 1:25 remaining in the first quarter. Not only that, but the 45-yard touchdown run put the fabulous freshman in a class of his own–he set the Penn State freshman record for rushing touchdowns with nine. In the first half against Maryland, Singleton rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries (averaging 14.1 yards per carry).

The Penn State defense put up some staggering numbers against the ‘Terps in the first half. The Nittany Lions limited the Terrapins to just 23 total yards of offense on 23 plays–absolutely mind-blowing numbers.

Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford made history

It didn’t take long for Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford to stamp his name on the Nittany Lions record books in a variety of ways on Saturday night. Penn State dominated Maryland from the jump and Clifford went to work, shattering a couple of historic milestones.

First, he passed Trace McSorley as the school’s all-time passing yardage leader early in the game. On the first offensive series of the game, Clifford completed a 16-yard strike to tight end Brenton Strange to officially become Penn State’s all-time passing yardage leader (9,902 passing yards).

Then, later in the game, Clifford completed a 33-yard pass to tight end Theo Johnson to eclipse 10,000 passing yards for his Penn State career. In doing so, he became the first Nittany Lion quarterback to throw for over 10,000 yards in their career. Not only that, but Clifford also became just the 7th signal-caller in Big Ten Conference history to eclipse 10,000 passing yards, joining the likes of former Purdue quarterbacks such as Drew Brees and Curtis Painter.
