Penn State punter Jordan Stout announced that he will enter the 2022 NFL Draft on Tuesday, via his social media. The redshirt senior has an option to return for his sixth season thanks to the NCAA’s extra year of eligibility granted to players during the COVID-19 pandemic but will pursue a professional career instead.

Jordan Stout opened the season playing all three special teams roles for Penn State. He worked as kicker, punter and kickoff specialist before handing off field goal duties to senior Jake Pinegar for the final two games of the season.

Over two seasons as the starter, Stout punted 95 times for 4,257 yards and had a career-long 76 yard punt in 2021. Over his career, he has 42 punts inside the 20-yard line with only four touchbacks and 28 punts of 50-plus yards. Stout also converted 34-of-36 extra points and 20-of-31 field goals over his career with a career-long of 57 yards.

Statement from Jordan Stout

Along with the announcement, Jordan Stout released a statement to his Penn State teammates and others who helped him along the way.

“I really can’t find the right words to express how incredible my time in State College has been and how honored I am to have played at such an incredible place. From an early age I always dreamed of playing sports on the big stage. Little did I know I would be playing on one of the biggest stages in all of sports. To each individual I played with both at Virginia Tech and Penn State, I love you guys and I appreciate how you pushed me each and every day to be the best I can be. I wouldn’t be here without all the support and love from my teammates.

“Coach Franklin, Lorig and Raisbeck, you all taught me how to be a leader at the highest level. Not only on the field, but off as well. You helped me reach heights I never thought I could, both as a player and as a person. It means so much that you took a chance on a kicker/punter from small town southwestern Virginia.

Nittany Nation, the love, encouragement and continuous support you have shown me during my time at PSU has been unbelievable. I can’t think of a better fan base in all of college football. I wish I could personally thank each and every person who has supported me along the way.

“To my friends, girlfriend and family (especially my parents), you all are my ‘why’ and you are the reason I go to work each and every day. You all give me the motivation to go in and put 1000% of my effort into being the best player and person I can be. For that I thank you.

“With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of this journey!”
