LOOK: Penn State 2022 enrollees Cam Miller and Tyler Johnson reveal jersey numbers
Penn State head coach James Franklin has once again brought in one of the nation’s top recruiting classes during the 2022 cycle. Of the 25 players signed by the Nittany Lions, 14 have already made their way on campus and participated in spring practice.
One of the top was wide receiver Tyler Johnson, who revealed his jersey number for the upcoming season on Monday.
Johnson will be rocking the No. 8 throughout his career, he announced via Twitter. Penn State provided him with a nice graphic for the reveal, while Johnson captioned the tweet “Ocho” paired with an emoji. Even though Johnson is seen wearing No. 6 in his Twitter profile picture, it feels safe to say the wide receiver is happy with the outcome.
Johnson was ranked a four-star prospect by the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services, coming out of high school. He was a top 15 player to come out of the state of Virginia as Wake Forest and Virginia Tech were considered in the recruitment as well. In the end, Penn State ended up being the selection for Johnson.

Penn State freshman defensive back reveals new number
Cornerback Cam Miller participated in the fun as well, announcing he will also be wearing a single-digit number. Miller will dawn the No. 5 during his first year on campus. In his announcement tweet, Miller showed his excitement for the season to begin, saying his freshman year is “loading.”
Miller is another high-ranked recruit Franklin was able to pull in from out of state. The cornerback is originally from Jacksonville, FL, and will be leaving SEC country to play in the Big Ten. Per the On3 Consensus, Miller ranked as the No. 27 prospect from the state of Florida and No. 25 at his position.
The Nittany Lions have a long history of producing top defensive players, especially in the secondary. Miller will have a chance to be one of the next greats.
