Penn State receiver Malick Meiga has entered the NCAA transfer portal. He spent the past four seasons with the Nittany Lions and will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Meiga was named a team captain this past season as a redshirt junior and appeared in 10 games with a role mostly on special teams. He finished his career at Penn State with nine catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.

“After a great four years, it’s time for a new chapter,” Meiga wrote on Twitter. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to the amazing fans, teammates, and coaching staff at Penn State University. Your support, camaraderie, and guidance have meant the world to me. I am officially in the transfer portal.”

As a recruit, Meiga was a three-star prospect coming out of Cegep du Vieux High School in Montreal, Canada. He ranked as the No. 639 overall player and No. 109 receiver in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

More on Penn State’s roster, transfer portal situation

Malick Meiga is the second Penn State receiver to enter the transfer portal since spring practiced ended. He is joined by senior KeAndre Lambert-Smith, the team’s leading pass from 2023 with 53 receptions for 673 yards and four touchdowns.

Overall, a total of five Nittany Lions wideouts have transferred this offseason after Dante Cephas, Cristian Driver and Mason Stahl all entered the portal in January. Penn State has so far added just one receiver from the portal in Julian Fleming from Ohio State.

The Nittany Lions currently rank No. 25 overall and No. 5 in the Big Ten according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings. They have seen 10 players enter the portal while adding six. Former Georgia cornerback A.J. Harris is their top addition thus far, coming in at No. 23 in On3’s Transfer Portal Player Rankings.

Penn State is coming off of a second straight season with double digit wins but once again finished behind Ohio State and Michigan in the Big Ten East standings. The Nittany Lions have not won a conference championship since 2016, but will aim to put together a roster that can change that in 2024.
