Penn State Nittany Lions running back Kaytron Allen announced that he will be returning to Happy Valley in 2025 for a fourth season with the program.

Allen took to social media moments after fellow Penn State running back Nick Singleton announced his own return. There, he posted, “Unfinished business” along with a note explaining his decision.

“I have learned so much about football and life from being a part of this elite organization that Coach [James] Franklin leads. Going to work with Coach [Ja’Juan] Seider and the Lawnboyz every day is something that I will cherish forever. Penn State has been an extraordinary experience for me. This has led to my decision to return for the 2025 season,” Allen wrote.

“Throughout my life, my family and support system has been critical in helping me in my football journey. Through discussions with them, my coaches and teammates, it’s clear that we still have a lot more to accomplish as a team at Penn State. I want to thank God for putting me in this position and the opportunity to play this sport that I love. Playing in front of these fans has been an experience I will never forget. I love playing football and being able to play it in front of these great Penn State fans has made it extra special. I look forward to it again next season. Boom! I’m back!”

Kaytron Allen initially came to Penn State as a four-star recruit in the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the eighth-ranked running back and the 136th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.

Since getting to Penn State, Allen and Singleton have been a two-headed monster in the backfield for the Nittany Lions. Allen, by himself, has rushed for 2,877 yards on 5.1 yards per carry over his 42 games at Penn State. He also has 24 rushing touchdowns. In the passing game, Allen has 52 receptions for 422 yards and four touchdowns.

In 2024, Penn State made it to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history. The Nittany Lions won a pair of games before losing a heartbreaking game in the semifinal at the Orange Bowl to Notre Dame. During that run in the Playoff, Allen rushed for 286 yards on 6.08 yards per carry. He also scored a pair of touchdowns in the SMU game.

Along with Allen and Singleton, the Penn State offense is also returning quarterback Drew Allar for the 2025 season as the Nittany Lions look to attend to some unfinished business.
