Penn State WR Malik McClain enters NCAA transfer portal
Penn State wide receiver Malik McClain entered the NCAA transfer portal. He started his career at Florida State.
Last season, McClain played 13 games and finished with just six catches for 71 yards and one touchdown. In his two years at Florida State, he had 33 catches for 396 yards, five touchdowns and 12 yards per catch.
As a member of the Class of 2021, McClain was a four-star recruit out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 29 overall prospect in the state, the No. 32 wide receiver in the class and the No. 204 overall prospect in the class.
“After the 2023 season, McClain received little buzz this past offseason during his second spring practice,” Blue White Illustrated’s Greg Pickel wrote. “He joins KeAndre Lambert-Smith, who is now at Auburn, and Malick Meiga, who does not yet have his next college home but has claimed offers from the likes of Delaware, Coastal Carolina, and Nevada so far since entering the portal, and defensive tackle Davon Townley Jr., in leaving before preseason camp.”

Malik McClain latest Penn State WR to enter portal
With Malik McClain gone now, the Nittany Lions’ room took a bit of a hit on Thursday.
Penn State wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith elected to enter the NCAA transfer portal and head coach James Franklin did not share too much additional information.
Following the Nittany Lions’ spring game, Franklin elected to only talk about the guys who participated in the game. Lambert-Smith entering the portal was seen as a bit of a surprise to most.
“Yeah, I’m really happy to talk about any of the guys that played in the game today and are in the locker room,” Franklin said in mid-April. “Besides that, I don’t have a whole lot to tell you.”
