Penn State WR Omari Evans plans to enter NCAA transfer portal

Penn State wide receiver Omari Evans plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Evans finished the season with 21 catches for 415 yards and five touchdowns. He’ll have one more year of eligibility, wherever he ends up in 2025.

As a member of the Class of 2022, Evans was a three-star recruit out of Kileen (Texas) Shoemaker, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 79 overall prospect in the state, the No. 81 wide receiver in the class and the No. 508 overall prospect in the class.

Omari Evans latest Penn State player to enter portal

Evans, along with WR Tyler Johnson and defensive back Mekhi Flowers, entered the portal in the last two days.

A lot of change is coming, but Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen are both returning in the offensive backfield next season.

Allen took to social media moments after fellow Penn State running back Nick Singleton announced his own return. There, he posted, “Unfinished business” along with a note explaining his decision.

“I have learned so much about football and life from being a part of this elite organization that Coach [James] Franklin leads. Going to work with Coach [Ja’Juan] Seider and the Lawnboyz every day is something that I will cherish forever. Penn State has been an extraordinary experience for me. This has led to my decision to return for the 2025 season,” Allen wrote.

“Throughout my life, my family and support system has been critical in helping me in my football journey. Through discussions with them, my coaches and teammates, it’s clear that we still have a lot more to accomplish as a team at Penn State. I want to thank God for putting me in this position and the opportunity to play this sport that I love. Playing in front of these fans has been an experience I will never forget. I love playing football and being able to play it in front of these great Penn State fans has made it extra special. I look forward to it again next season. Boom! I’m back!”
