4-star 2022 guard Judah Mintz decommits from Pittsburgh
Washington (D.C.) Oak Hill Academy guard Judah Mintz has backed off his commitment to Pittsburgh, he announced Wednesday afternoon.
Coincidentally, it was also the first day 2022 recruits could sign their National Letters of Intent. Mintz is the No. 66 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Mintz wrote: “I would like to sincerely thank Coach Capel and his staff for the care, concern and respect they’ve shown me and my family. From day one, they welcomed me with open arms and have always been honest with me. While I genuinely appreciate the relationships I’ve developed with them, I still must do what I feel is best for myself moving forward. Therefore, after careful consideration and prayer I have decided to reopen my recruitment. This was not in any way an easy decision to make but it again what I believe is best for myself moving forward.”

Mintz committed to the Panthers in June over Penn State and Georgetown, as well a handful of other offers. Those two could very much be a factor in his recruitment going forward. But it wouldn’t a surprise to see big-name programs jump into the mix for a top-75 prospect coming off the board.
This summer, Mintz was electric on the EYBL circuit. He averaged 18.2 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.2 SPG for Team Durant. He was named to All-Circuit third-team, as well.
Mintz was the only prospect Pittsburgh had committed for the 2022 recruiting class.
