The football world is at a standstill following Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during Monday Night Football against the Bengals. Hamlin received CPR on the field and was transported to a local Cincinnati hospital.

His former team, the Pitt Panthers, sent prayers his way following the scary incident. Hamlin was a captain for the team before being drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 draft.

Hamlin was having a breakout season for the Bills on defense this year. He’s tied for second on the team in total tackles with 91. He’s also amassed 1.5 sacks and two passes defended throughout his second year in the league.

Following the incident, the NFL suspended the Monday Night Football game between the Bills and Bengals. It will be rescheduled at a later date.

Bengals-Bills temporarily suspended after Damar Hamlin collapse

A moment in Cincinnati that is almost indescribable, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin went down after taking a hit in the first quarter of Monday Night Football. An ambulance was immediately brought onto the field and eventually, Hamlin was being administrated CPR by team trainers.

Eventually, Hamlin left the field and was escorted out of the stadium by an ambulance. At first, the plan was to give both the Bills and Bengals five minutes to warm back up and resume the game. However, things changed once the two head coaches talked.

Buffalo’s Sean McDermott spoke with Cincinnati’s Zac Taylor for a moment before McDermott motioned toward his players to head back to the locker room. The officials then announced the game has been “temporarily suspended” as everyone looks to regroup.

According to the ESPN broadcast, “nothing is off the table” as far as the status of the game. We could see play resume on Monday or be permanently suspended and played at a later date.
