Report: New development on Pitt wide receiver Jordan Addison, transfer portal
Pittsburgh Panthers wide receiver Jordan Addison is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, sources told ESPN’s Pete Thamel. His name is expected to pop up in the portal on Tuesday afternoon, according to Thamel, however, his decision isn’t “imminent.” It was previously reported by Pittsburgh radio host Andrew Fillipponi that Addison planned on leaving the program.
The deadline to inform schools of an intention to transfer was on May 1. However, schools have 48 hours to input their players’ names into the portal.
Addison was named the Biletnikoff Award winner last season with the Panthers after finishing the year with 100 receptions for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns. Pitt made it all the way to a New Year’s Six Bowl after winning the ACC Championship. However, the Panthers lose starting quarterback Kenny Pickett, who was drafted 20th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft.
A former four-star recruit in the class of 2020, Addison played multiple positions at Tuscarora High School in Frederick, Maryland. He was originally recruited as a defensive back, ranking as the No. 17 overall safety in the class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He converted to a full-time receiver as a true freshman, finishing with 60 catches for 666 yards and four touchdowns to earn ACC Rookie of the Year runner up.

Thamel describes potential tampering in Jordan Addison’s transfer recruitment
While speaking on the Paul Finebaum Show on Monday, Pete Thamel broke down the concerns Pitt has with potential tampering by USC. Reports emerged over the weekend that star receiver Jordan Addison was possibly signing an NIL deal in Los Angeles as part of alleged recruitment from USC. While Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi has not filed any official complaint yet, the coach allegedly reached out to USC coach Lincoln Riley and expressed his displeasure with their program.
Since rumors of Addison’s potential transfer began, there have reportedly been plenty of schools contacting him in an effort to try and get him to commit to them. After Addison put up 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, it makes complete sense why he would be such a hot name in the portal.
The problem is — coaches cannot reach out to players in recruiting efforts until their entry into the portal.
