Hendersonville (Tenn.) Pope John Paul II quarterback Kenny Minchey has committed to Pittsburgh, he announced Saturday afternoon on Twitter.

Minchey is the No. 435 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 23 quarterback and the No. 12 junior in Tennessee.

On3, despite not having Minchey ranked nationally, has tabbed him as a four-star prospect and the No. 13 quarterback in this class.

The 6-foot-1, 201-pounder chose the Panthers over offers from Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin, among others. He first picked up an offer from Pitt in late February, then tripped there for an unofficial visit last month. He visited Vanderbilt as well earlier this month, but ultimately landed on the Panthers.

He is Pitt’s second commitment in the 2023 class, joining three-star athlete Zion Fowler.

During the 2021 season, Kenny Minchey completed 215-of-351 passes (61%) for 3,280 yards, 32 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 13 games.
