Providence point guard Jayden Pierre plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He spent three years with the Friars.

Pierre set career highs this season and he could certainly be a key piece for a contending team next year. He averaged 12.3 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game, 39.8% from the floor and 34.2% from three-point range.

As a member of the Class of 2022, Pierre was a four-star recruit out of Elizabeth (N.J.) Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.), according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 1 overall prospect in the state, the No. 19 point guard in the class and the No. 118 overall prospect in the class.

Jayden Pierre latest Providence player to enter portal

Pierre isn’t the only one set to leave Providence. Forward Bryce Hopkins plans to enter the portal as well.

Hopkins played in 28 games for Kentucky as a freshman in 2021, starting none of them. He entered the portal after that season and went on to have a breakout season after committing to the Friars. Hopkins averaged 15.8 points per game with 8.5 rebounds while starting all 33 of Providence’s games that season.

His numbers were nearly identical during his junior season. However, he would tear his ACL in January 2024, limiting him to 14 games on the season.

Hopkins was able to return to the lineup 11 months later in Dec. 2024. He played three games as a senior but his nagging knee issues shut him down for the rest of the season. However, Hopkins was impressive despite not playing at 100%.
