Ed Cooley left Providence for Georgetown
After the season ended, longtime head coach Ed Cooley decided to leave Providence for Georgetown. He had previously been at Providence since 2011 and compiled a 242–153 record while there. The Final Four in the 2016-17 season was his best finish while there. Now, he’s being tasked with reviving Georgetown — a Big East rival of Providence’s.
Cooley was replaced at Providence by Kim English. English is considered a promising young coach in the industry and is looking to take the Friars to the next level during his time there. Since 2021, he was the head coach at George Mason and he previously played at Missouri and the Detroit Pistons.
English had a 34-29 record in his two seasons at George Mason.
