2022 DL Mariere Omonode commits to hometown Purdue

West Lafayette (Ind.) West Lafayette defensive lineman Mariere Omonode is staying home for college.

Omonode committed to Purdue on Monday night, announcing the news on his Twitter account.

Mariere Omonode held 20 other offers but the Boilermakers were his only Power Five offer. These offers were Appalachian State, Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Harvard, Illinois State, Indiana State, James Madison, Kent State, Marshall, Navy, Northern Illinois, Princeton, Western Michigan and Yale.

He is the 18th commit in the Purdue recruiting class, which is ranked No. 45 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

The class has three four-star commits according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. They are Fort Branch (Ind.) Gibson Southern quarterback Brady Allen, Indianapolis Brebeuf Jesuit EDGE Joe Strickland and Cleveland Valley Forge running back Kentrell Marks.

Mariere Omonode is the second defensive lineman commit in the class behind Manvel (Texas) three-star JP Deeter.

Purdue currently has three players from West Lafayette High on its roster, including brothers in junior defensive end George Karlaftis and freshman linebacker Yanni Karlaftis. The other West Lafayette High alum is redshirt freshman kicker Caleb Krockover.

There are also two players from West Lafayette who went to Central Catholic. They are fifth-year wideout Jackson Anthrop and redshirt freshman offensive lineman Gus German.
