Beaumont (Texas) West Brook three-star edge rusher Jaylin Jones has announced that he has decommitted from the Purdue Boilermakers.

Jones initially pledged to Purdue in August, choosing the Boilermakers over SMU.

Jones is the nation’s No. 874 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the cycle’s No. 71 EDGE and No. 136 recruit from Texas.

“After a lot of praying and talking to my parents and coaches. . . we feel like it is best to open my recruitment back up,” Jones wrote in a statement on social media. “I would like to thank all the coaches at Purdue for the great opportunity and all the love they have been showing me. They will always be my top! With that being said I would like to announce that I am decommitting from Purdue University. Please respect me and my (family’s) decision. God Bless.”

Jones does not currently have a publicly listed On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
