Purdue quarterback Marcos Davila plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Purdue freshman quarterback Marcos Davila is planning to enter the transfer portal, he told On3 on Thursday. The Texas native was ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 29 quarterback in the country in the class of 2024, per the On3 Industry rankings.
Marcos Davila did not appear in a game for the Boilermakers this season as they struggled to a 1-11 record.
Marcos Davila signed with Purdue after an impressive high school career at Midland Legacy in Midland, Texas. He was a three-year starter at Midland Legacy and holds school records for passing yards with 9,101 and passing touchdowns with 93.
As a high school senior in 2023, he threw for 3,303 yards and 30 touchdowns.
Marcos Davila chose Purdue out of high school after originally committing to TCU. His relationship with former Purdue offensive coordinator Graham Harrell played a role in him committing to the Boilermakers. Harrell was fired during the middle of the 2024 season.
Marcos Davila is the second Purdue quarterback to enter the transfer portal this week, joining redshirt freshman Ryan Browne.
Over the course of two seasons at Purdue, Ryan Browne played in nine games. Over the course of that time, he completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 636 yards on 11.6 yards per completion. He also threw four touchdowns and four interceptions. Purdue also frequently used Browne as a running threat and he carried the ball 71 times for 240 yards.

Ryan Browne played his high school football at Milford Academy in New York where he was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 54th-ranked quarterback and the 1,095th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.
