Decision day is here for Dallas Parish Episcopal three-star QB Sawyer Anderson. There’s a heavy favorite in the recruitment of the 2025 Texas quarterback, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

After racking up 20 offers from Power 5 schools, the 5-foot-10, 170-pounder is ready to make his commitment, and a pledge to a program in the Hooiser State could be on the horizon. Purdue now has a 96.2% chance to land the signal-caller after two picks were logged by On3 recruiting insiders for Anderson to commit to Ryan Walters and the Boilermakers.

Both Sam Spiegelman and Chad Simmons placed predictions, which were accompanied by 65% and 60% confidence levels, respectively. Anderson took a visit to West Lafayette at the end of July, which in-turn has the Big Ten school in a good spot, despite the likes of Texas A&M and Ole Miss being in the mix. He has taken multiple visits to both SEC programs, as well as Clemson.

“Clemson’s program speaks for itself with its winning tradition, but actually visiting in person gives you a  whole different perspective,” Anderson told On3 in April. “It was an incredible two days.”

Anderson is the No. 440 overall prospect and No. 37 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 72 player from Texas.

Purdue making progress on recruiting trail

Since 2013, Purdue has finished a cycle with a top-35 recruiting class just twice. In 2019, the Boilermakers managed the No. 30 class in the nation, which was followed up by the No. 34 class one cycle later. It’s often been a struggle to lure top prospects to West Lafayette.

Walters is yet to coach his first game as Purdue’s skipper, but he’s trying to pick up where Jeff Brohm left off and earn some respect on the recruiting trail. Currently, the Boilermakers have the No. 27 class in the 2024 cycle, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking, thanks to 21 total commits, four of whom are four-stars.

Cincinnati La Salle cornerback Koy Beasley is the No. 114 overall prospect in the cycle, while Lake Dallas (Texas) wide receiver Keonde Henry, Midland (Texas) Lee QB Marcos Davila and Naperville (Ill.) North safety Luke Williams are all top-300 recruits. Anderson would be Purdue’s first 2025 commitment and a nice win for Walters and his staff, considering he also holds offers from multiple heavy-hitting programs in-state and around the SEC.
