South Dakota State transfer Oscar Cluff commits to Purdue

South Dakota State transfer Oscar Cluff has committed to Purdue, he announced on X Monday night. Cluff is the No. 1 overall transfer in this year’s On3 transfer portal rankings. Overall in the On3 Industry rankings, however, Cluff ranks as the No. 7 overall portal prospect.
Cluff was dominant for the Jackrabbits during the 2024-25 season. He averaged 17.6 points per game. However, his 12.3-rebound average was good for the second-best in the country. He did all of this on a 63.4% field goal percentage — which also ranks in the top 10 in the country.
His most recent appearance for South Dakota State came during the Summit League Conference Tournament, where he scored 27 points and grabbed 17 rebounds — even making a 3-point basket during the process. However, his efforts were not enough and the Jackrabbits were upset in the quarterfinals after a 20-12 season.
He transferred to South Dakota State after spending one season at Washington State. However, would transfer out of the program following the collapse of the Pac-12. During his lone season with the Cougars, Cluff averaged 7.0 points and 4.4 rebounds, meaning he made a major leap in production from last season.
The 2025-26 season will be Cluff’s fifth at the collegiate level. The 6 foot 11 Australia native previously played two seasons of college basketball at the junior college level for Cochise College in Arizona. He helped lead his team to 58 wins during his time there. He averaged 12.5 points and 10.8 rebounds as a freshman on a 75% field goal percentage.
