Tyler Trent's younger brother to walk-on at Purdue
Carmel (Ind.) offensive lineman Ethan Trent, the younger brother of the late Tyler Trent, announced he will walk-on at Purdue on National Signing Day.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for allowing me to play the game of football,” Ethan Trent said on social media. I would also like to thank my family for being so supportive of my mission and dreams throughout this entire process. Next I’d like to show gratitude to all the great coaches l’ve been surrounded by, Coach Hebert, Coach Velde, and Coach Hahn. You guys have guided me and allowed me to grow into a leader and a man. Thank you Coach Eze Obiora for your continual support and pushing me to be the best player I can be. I would like to thank Coach Walters and Coach Dennison for allowing me to play football at this great university. With that being said, I’m committed to Purdue University.”

Tyler Trent was a Purdue student who became an inspiration to Boilermakers and college football fans across the country. He was first diagnosed with cancer in 2014 before it returned as a senior in high school.
Trent went to and attend Purdue while dealing with treatments before the cancer spread in 2018. He made it to the team’s game against Ohio State, and inspired the team to an upset victory over the Buckeyes. The Boilermakers also named him an honorary captain for their bowl game.
He died on Jan. 1, 2019 from a rare form of bone cancer at the age of 20.
Ethan Trent had previously committed to Indiana State before decommitting Tuesday.
