2024 Big Ten Wrestling Championships: Dylan Shawver beats Brody Teske for spot in 133 pound finals
No. 2 seed Dylan Shawver (Rutgers) knocked out No. 14 Brody Teske (Iowa) in a wild 133 pound semifinal at the Big Ten Championships.
Shawver got the 12-6 win, getting a takedown and near fall late in the third period. Teske appeared to have the advantage and nearly stuck Shawver to his back.
However, the Scarlet Knight rolled through and ended the Hawkeye “Cinderella” story.
Shawver is Rutgers’ first Big Ten finalist since 2019 when the program had two: Nick Suriano and Anthony Ashnault, that year’s national champions.
Teske can still finish as high as third and had quite the run to that point, where he knocked off No. 3 Nic Bouzakis of Ohio State. He fell to the wrestlebacks with the loss.
