There is no recruiting flex quite like a head coach showing up in a private helicopter. Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano decided that Friday night was chopper time.

Schiano showed up to Friday night’s game between Union (N.J.) and Warren (N.J.) Watchung Hills in a private helicopter, which featured Union (N.J.) four-star safety and top Scarlet Knights target Davison Igbinosun.

Schiano’s helicopter arrived a few minutes after kickoff and watched the game from the Union sideline.

The helicopter is known as a key aspect of Schiano’s recruiting strategy in the state of New Jersey. Rutgers is on a bye this week.

Igbunosun is the No. 147 overall recruit in the 2022 On300 rankings.

He decommitted from Rutgers on Oct. 5, saying he felt it was in his best interest to reopen his recruitment. He added he was still considering Rutgers.

Igbunosun went on a visit to Tennessee later that week. He has also received offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska and West Virginia since reopening his recruitment.

Ole Miss is also in the mix for the defensive back.

Union won the game 42-7 to win its conference. Igbunosun had eight carries for 51 yards, four catches for 43 yards and eight tackles on defense.

Schiano is not the only coach to be utilizing a private chopper for the recruiting purposes. Kirby Smart utilized one last week to visit five-star athlete Travis Hunter at Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill’s game.
