3-star ATH Stacy Bey commits to San Diego State
Over a dozen schools have offered Stacy Bey and one of those is San Diego State. The Aztecs offered the three-star athlete out of Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) last month and it didn’t take long for Bey to take them up on that.
During his visit Friday, the No. 35 athlete in the country committed to San Diego State.
“This all kind of happened today,” Bey told On3. “It felt like home and committing to San Diego State felt like the right move. I had built a good relationship with the coaches before they offered, I was comfortable with them and they made me feel at home on the visit.”
After touring the school, checking out the facilities and taking part in a photo shoot, the 6-foot, 215-pound rising senior saw no reason to wait any longer. He met with the staff in Brady Hoke‘s office and let his decision be known.
“They made it easy. It just felt right. Committing to San Diego State was the right move for me. I was planning on committing over the summer, but I had a different feeling on this visit. It just felt right.

“They are going to push me and they want me to be the best I can be. I am excited about this decision.”
Bey felt wanted and liked the fit at San Diego State
Cornerbacks coach Demetrius Sumler was Bey’s lead recruiter and the two have built a strong bond.
“He has been in contact with me every day. We can talk about anything. We talk about life, football, school, sports or anything. Coach Sumler is very genuine and we have genuine conversations. He makes it easy to talk to and he has been pushing for me. He and the staff have shown me they are really invested in me.”
Bey chose San Diego State over Arizona, Utah State, Washington and Washington State. He is a versatile defender and that is what he expects to be on the next level. They want him to play the WARRIOR position in their defense. He could line up at safety, nickel or linebacker in that role.
He is “locked in” with San Diego State, but Bey is still planning to take his five official visits.
