Houston Lamar four-star offensive tackle Dramodd Odoms has committed to SMU, he announced on Thursday.

He chose the in-state Mustangs over the likes of Mississippi State and Purdue.

Odoms is the No. 110 overall prospect and No. 10 OT in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 18 player in Texas.

After logging an official visit to Dallas on June 7, the 6-foot-6, 295-pounder now becomes the latest to join a rising pledge list for Rhett Lashlee and Co. The SMU class now features 17 commits overall, with Odoms checking in atop the class.

“It was a vibe. I liked it a lot,” Odoms told On The Pony Express following his OV last month.

Mustangs now have Top-25 recruiting class

July continues to be fruitful for Lashlee and the Mustangs staff. Odoms is commitment No. 5 this month for the new ACC program. With the addition of the trench monster, SMU’s class now ranks No. 24 in the nation and No. 4 in the ACC, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

San Antonio (Texas) IMG Academy four-star quarterback Ty Hawkins flipped to the Mustangs from TCU on Wednesday. Hawkins is also a top-150 prospect and the No. 12 QB in the nation.

“This past weekend. I’ve just been talking with my parents a lot,” Hawkins told On3 on when he made a decision. “I feel like at SMU I just have a better chance of playing early and it’s a really good opportunity there. It’s a great city, great location. I feel like something is brewing in Dallas, for sure.”

DeSoto (Texas) four-star wide receiver Daylon Singleton is the other four-star commitment in the class, checking in at No. 292 overall and No. 44 at his position. Other top commits in the class include Los Angeles King Drew three-star EDGE Chinedu Onyeagoro, East Saint Louis (Ill.) DeSoto three-star safety Sael Reyes and McKinney (Texas) three-star cornerback Zadian Gentry.

Of the 17 commits in the class, 10 are in-state products. Despite already losing multiple commitments this cycle, the Mustangs still have their footing on the trail and are charging for one of the top recruiting classes in the Lone Star State.
