SMU has made a splash in the transfer portal, landing a commitment from former Oklahoma offensive tackle Nate Anderson. Anderson announced the news on social media on Monday.

Anderson spent four seasons in Norman with the Sooners with a tenure which spanned two different coaching staffs. He redshirted his true freshman season back in 2020 and didn’t see action in 2021. But in 2022, Anderson played in four games and earned First Team All-Academic honors in the Big 12. In 2023, he finally played in all 12 games for the team but was featured on special teams and in a reserve role on the offensive line. Now, he’ll transfer.

Prior to his time with OU, Nate Anderson played football for Reed High School in Frisco, Texas, where he was a four-star recruit in the 2020 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also rated the No. 113 overall prospect and No. 13 player out of Texas for his cycle.
