DB Robert Rahimi has signed with SMU in the NCAA Transfer Portal. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed the news on Thursday morning.

This is after Rahimi actually committed to transfer to the Mustangs two offseasons ago before never coming. Now, he will spend his final season of eligibility in Dallas.

Rahimi just finished his lone season at San José State after three spent at Liberty as well as two seasons at Saddleback Community College.

Over that collegiate career in 39 games played with the Flames and Spartans, Rahimi has totaled 160 tackles, 11 interceptions, seven deflections, and 1.5 sacks. That includes a career-best season this past fall as a senior with 82 tackles, five picks, five deflections, and a sack as a selection to the All-Mountain West Second Team.

With that, Rahimi was the No. 86 DB and the No. 958 overall transfer in On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players.

Rahimi is now the 11th addition in the portal during this cycle for Southern Methodist. They’ve also brought in QB Tyler Van Dyke (Wisconsin), IOLs Joshua Bates (Oklahoma) and Addison Nichols (Arkansas), RB Christopher Johnson (Miami), OT Zion Nelson (Miami), LB Zayke Barker (East Carolina), DE Deshawn Warner (Kansas), and three defensive linemen in Trey Wilson (Baylor), Damarjhe Lewis (Purdue), Eric Taylor (Mississippi State). With that, SMU currently has a Top-35 portal class per On3’s Team Transfer Portal Rankings with four players transferring out.
