Bryce Lindsay, a 6-foot-3 point guard out of Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy has committed to South Carolina basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.

Lindsay chose the Gamecocks over Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh. He also received offers from Marquette, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Texas A&M, among others.

Lindsay breaks down his decision to South Carolina

South Carolina entered Lindsay’s recruitment a bit late but the Gamecocks were able to make up major ground fast.

“They came up last year to see me play, and they were interested in me a lot but they didn’t know if they were going to have their returning senior, James Reese, come back for their fifth year,” Lindsay explained. “They came back into the picture in December, and they started recruiting me hot, like very heavy. So that’s when I took the visit and I fell in love.”

What stood out about South Carolina?

“Mainly Frank Martin,” Lindsay said. “He’s a great guy. A lot of players will get to campus and not like it because of the way he coaches and how intense he is. But I feel as though I’m compatible with that because I’ve had coaches like him my whole life, in AAU and high school. I believe he will develop me the best. I love their playstyle, they like to get up and go. They don’t really like to run any set plays unless they have to.”

Scouting Report on Lindsay

Here is what On3’s National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw had to say about Bryce Lindsay:

“Bryce Lindsay is a shooter. He has deep range and confidence he will make the next shot. At 6-1/6-2 he is more shooting guard than point guard but he is confident on the ball in a secondary role. Average length and athleticism but he gives good effort on defense. The real takeaway here is his ability to stretch the floor, South Carolina fans may remember Jamel Bradley, Lindsay is of a similar archetype.”
