Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day five-star offensive lineman David Sanders is in the early stages of his recruitment as a rising junior, but a number of schools have prioritized him.

Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Tennessee are just a few names on the long offer list of Sanders, who ranks as the No. 1 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.

After visits to Clemson and Georgia in the past two weeks, Sanders will be at South Carolina on Thursday for his first visit since this fall.

The Gamecocks, under Shane Beamer, have made the offensive line — and the trenches in general — a major focal point. And that’s no different in the 2025 class.

“South Carolina is one of those schools I’ve always been around, it’s home and the closest school to us,” he told On3’s Sam Spiegelman last month. “I love the coaches down there. They’re down to earth and when I go there, they treat me like family. I like everything about South Carolina.”

Sanders also has a connection to elite 2024 offensive tackle Kam Pringle, who is committed to the Gamecocks.

“They got big Kam, that’s one of my role models really,” Sanders added. “He keeps in touch with me and tells me to enjoy the process and not to rush everything. Everything he says about South Carolina is what I want to know about a program.”

David Sanders is looking for a decision early in 2024

While he won’t be able to sign with a program until December 2024 — roughly 19 months from now — Sanders is looking to make some early cutdowns and have a decision made by next spring.

“I definitely wanna do it before my senior year, around this time next year,” Sanders said of a commitment. “I wanna get the vibe I feel like I’m at home and my family feels like it’s the right fit for me and it aligns with my academic goals. These visits this spring and summer, I’m gonna see the whole campus and not just the football side of things, and I’m gonna enjoy it.”

South Carolina, NC State, Clemson and Georgia are the top contenders right now in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). According to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, those programs, along with Ohio State and a few others, are very much in contention right now.

“It is too early for name a favorite for the elite offensive tackle out of Charlotte Providence Day, but Georgia is expected to be a strong contender,” Simmons said last week. “He loves the practice style and he has a strong relationship with Stacy Searels. He has visits to Clemson and Ohio State coming up. The Tigers have not offered, but they will. He has already visited there three times. It will be his first time to Columbus and he is very intrigued by the Buckeyes.”
