4-star CB Onis Konanbanny visits South Carolina
On New Year’s Day, Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall Episcopal cornerback Onis Konanbanny trimmed his list of top schools down to 10. South Carolina had not yet offered the 6-foot-2, 170-pounder, however.
That changed at the beginning of February. Now, Shane Beamer and Co. are looking to get in the mix for his pledge. On Tuesday, Konanbanny visited the local program:
“It was good, it was great,” Konanbanny told GamecockCentral of the offer last month. “Because I know that’s probably one of the hardest ones to get, being an in-state kid. Well, playing – not even in-state, but playing in-state. But, yeah, I was relieved. It was cool, just to know I could stay at home, stay right here and have all my guys still here and then see – go to school just up there and just still be around the family.”
Konanbanny also took a pair of game visits to SC last season. He transferred to Heathwood last year from Rabun Gap (Ga.) Nacoochee School. Florida State, LSU, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and USC all made his top 10 earlier this year.
“I have great relationships with all those schools,” Konanbanny told On3. “Each school plays great defense, develops cornerbacks like me, and most importantly, offers great degrees that can set me up for life. Those are the reasons those 10 schools are on top.”

Thus far, Konanbanny has locked in June official visits to North Carolina, Penn State and Tennessee. He also told CaneSport earlier this month that an OV to Miami is likely in the cards as well.
“I want to commit by the summer,” Konanbanny said. “It will come down to relationships, development and degree.”
He is the nation’s No. 310 overall prospect and No. 31 cornerback in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 recruit in South Carolina.
South Carolina currently holds just one commitment in the 2025 cycle — Florence (S.C.) South three-star wide receiver Jayden Sellers. The Gamecocks finished with the No. 20 class in the nation last cycle — according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings — headlined by Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Dylan Stewart and On3 five-star in-state offensive tackle Josiah Thompson. Stewart was the No. 12 overall recruit in the On300, while Thompson checked in at No. 16 overall.
