WATCH: Austin Stogner catches first touchdown pass in South Carolina uniform

Austin Stogner just caught his first touchdown pass as a South Carolina Gamecock on Thursday night. The tight end hauled in a 15-yard touchdown catch from Spencer Rattler early in the third quarter of the South CarolinaSouth Carolina State game. The Gamecocks went 75 yards on eight plays in the third quarter, then capped off the drive with a dart from Rattler to Stogner to put South Carolina up 29-7 with 8:17 remaining in the third quarter.

Stogner transferred to South Carolina from the Oklahoma Sooners with Spencer Rattler in the offseason. With the Sooners, Stogner was named second team All-Big 12 in 2020. That season, he ranked third on the team with 26 catches for 422 receiving yards (16.2 yards per catch). He also set a career high in receptions (6) against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. In 34 games with the Sooners over the years, he hauled in 47 catches for 654 receiving yards.

South Carolina has taken firm control of the game in the fourth quarter. The Gamecocks currently lead 50-10 with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The game is being televised on the SEC Network.

Gamecocks running back MarShawn Lloyd had 11 carries for 80 rushing yards and a touchdown on Thursday night. Quarterback Spencer Rattler completed 21 of 27 passes for 212 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran for 31 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground.

Coming out of Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas) Stogner was rated as the No. 3 tight end in America, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2019 cycle. He was one of the highest rated tight ends in the country and attended the prestigious camp of “The Opening”. Stogner was also selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
