Final Four week in Cleveland brings plenty of storylines from women’s college basketball. None more so than the season Caitlin Clark is having at Iowa. And then there is Paige Bueckers and UConn, returning for the third time in four seasons. A lot of attention has been brought to that side of the bracket due to the star power available.

On the other end is South Carolina and NC State, with the former still being undefeated. Usually, if a team is attempting to win a national championship to cap off a perfect season, a ton of attention is thrown their way.

But if you ask South Carolina’s Bree Hall, there has not been too much media coverage of the Gamecocks. It’s not the team’s focus at the moment and the goal is to leave the Final Four with two more wins, a cut-down net, and a trophy.

Hall has taken notes on the matter, though.

“I think I said this earlier to somebody else, but I said I feel like we’ve noticed that we might not get as much coverage,” Hall said when speaking to the media. “But we’re just so focused on us and want to win every game. We just approach every game, we want to go out there and perform and execute and play for each other. Like, it’s noticed, but it’s not something we’re talking about in the locker room, not even remotely close.”

South Carolina began the season No. 6 in the preseason poll. After one week, the voters moved them to No. 1 and they have not looked back since. Dawn Staley‘s squad is on a 36-game winning streak dating back to the season opener against Notre Dame in early November. It’s been a season of pure domination in Columbia.

The last time a national champion finished without a loss on the record was UConn back in 2015-2016. If South Carolina can pull the stunt off, they would join elite company in college basketball.

Hall is hoping she can make an impact, beginning with NC State on Friday night. She is averaging 9.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 rebounds per game. Winning it all as a true freshman, this would be the second national championship on Hall’s resume.

Maybe then, South Carolina will feel like the stories are being written about their team.
