4-star Cam Scott recaps South Carolina official visit
Four-star shooting guard Cam Scott completed his first official visit on Sunday. The Lexington (SC) High junior tripped across town to South Carolina as the football team hosted Texas A&M at night on the SEC Network.
“The impact a hometown athlete has in Columbia was memorable,” Scott told On3. “Just going around and seeing everyone looking and offering to talk to me from all different ages the whole weekend.”
Scott stayed in Columbia for parts of Friday, all of Saturday, and parts of Sunday. He was able to see all the facilities the school had to offer.
“With the facilities, the different varieties they have for recovery and injury prevention,” Scott said. ” They have a lot of stuff in storage where you don’t see it if you’re just walking around, and all that was pretty interesting.”
Scott is the No. 14 player in the updated 2024 On3 150. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard was 5A All-State for the second time last season after averaging 21.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. He was the leading scorer for one of the best 16u teams – Team United – on the Nike EYBL Circuit this summer, averaging 11.8 points and shooting 50.7 percent from the field in 15.4 minutes played.

Scott also led the NBPA Top 100 Camp in three-point shooting in June, knocking down 50 percent of his shots and winning a camp championship. On3 caught up with Cam Scott to talk about the style of play and fit in new head coach Lamont Paris’ system.
“They run a lot of three-high sets and just play,” Scott said. “They allow everyone to play in their comfort zone, and players are given the freedom of creation. Coach (Lamont Paris) said he would like to use me as a person who can run the point for him but also have that switch to be able to score whenever.”
Scott has two more junior year official visits set and is rescheduling a third. He will visit Auburn (11/11), and Texas (10/25). Scott set an official visit with Florida State; however, they had to reschedule due to Hurricane Ian.
Scott’s scouting report
Cam Scott is a lengthy wing prospect with a lot of pop. The natural tools are very impressive all the way around. Scott has a mature game, plays within the flow of the offense, and rarely forces things. The jump shot release can be cleaned up, but the pull-up is smooth. Since the summer, Scott has developed his footwork and handle in the half-court, creating space to elevate into his jumper. Scott can take over a game and carry his team. I would like to see him develop the comfort to take a more aggressive alpha role on his teams. He is very efficient in his game, and his ability to score with a less is more approach is mature. Strength will come, and he is tracking as one of the top players in the 2024 class.
