Shane Beamer is in the process of changing the culture at South Carolina. If last season’s successful finish or the huge commitments the Gamecocks received from the transfer portal didn’t convince you, the words of South Carolina stars Chad Terrell and Jordan Burch will.

After South Carolina’s spring game, both athletes spoke about the differences in the Gamecocks under Beamer’s watch. First, Terrell revealed that the aura surrounding the team is just better under the coach’s watch.

“Honestly, it’s just a different feeling with him,” started the Gamecocks tight end. “Like everyday, whenever we come out, he’s just always so energetic. And he’s always like, you can tell that he genuinely just enjoys what he does. The way he takes the field, he’s just happy, like a big little kid. Just running out on the field, like happy to have us all out there. He loves us, with like everything he does. It just shows.”

If Terrell didn’t convince you, Burch spoke about how Beamer has made good on all the promises he made the Gamecocks when he arrived on campus.

“He talks about that all the time,” the former five-star pass rusher responded, regarding how often Beamer tells his team he loves coaching them. “Like when he came in last year, and told us he’s going to gain our trust. He’s been showing us that throughout the year, and this spring has been a lot, he’s been right there with us. You make a play and you turnaround, and Coach Beamer’s right there dapping you up. So, everything he’s been saying so far has been really put in place. We enjoy having him around.”

All roads to success begin with trust, and it’s evident that South Carolina will go to war for Shane Beamer.

Shane Beamer praises Chad Terrell: ‘What an unselfish guy he is.’

Moreover, South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer heaped praise on senior receiver Chad Terrell following the spring game on Saturday. After presenting him with the South Carolina Spirit Award during halftime, Beamer broke down what makes Terrell so special, despite few results on the field during his time in Columbia.

“He’s awesome,” Beamer started. “I just told the team in the locker room in there, what an unselfish guy he is. Last year was his fifth year in the program, he wasn’t playing. He was on the scout team in his fifth year, a lot of guys would have walked away.”

After appearing in four games last season, Terrell agreed to a position change from wide receiver to help with the team’s lack of tight ends this spring. After the move, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound tight end led all receivers in the Garnet and Black spring game with four catches for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Now, Chad Terrell is going into his sixth year. Unfortunately, the 2017 signee has had a career plagued by injury thus far. After tearing his left ACL in 2018, he tore the right two years later. His stat sheet so far has just seven catches recorded. He’ll be looking to make his biggest impact yet during the 2022 season.
