WATCH: Chico Carter hits game-winning shot to lift South Carolina over Clemson
The South Carolina Gamecocks got some late-game heroics on Friday night against their bitter in-state rivals, the Clemson Tigers, to come away with a heart-stopping victory. Chico Carter hit a clutch up-and-under shot with less than a second remaining to lift the Gamecocks to the win in Columbia, SC. The game-winner put South Carolina up 60-58 with 0.3 seconds remaining, sending the Gamecocks’ home crowd into a frenzy. That would end up being the final score on Friday night.

Carter finished the game with 16 points for the Gamecocks–leading the team in scoring. He also drilled four of his team’s 10 three-pointers on the night. Former five-star G.G. Jackson II pumped in 12 points on 4 of 13 shooting from the field. He also stuffed the stat sheet with eight rebounds and two steals.
Tonight was the first game back from offseason surgery for Clemson superstar P.J. Hall, who finished with 15 points, five rebounds, one block, and a steal in the losing effort. The Gamecocks held a commanding advantage on the glass on Friday night, outrebounding Clemson 50-32. South Carolina shot only 34.4 percent from the field, but still came away with the huge win. Clemson only shot 37.7 percent from the field.

South Carolina head coach Lamont Paris became the first Gamecocks head coach to win the rivalry game in his debut season, since Dave Odom did it in 2001.

South Carolina also got 10 rebounds and three blocks from seven-footer Josh Gray in the win. The victory pushed the Gamecocks overall record to 2-0.
A few days ago, they prevailed in a battle with South Carolina State, 80-77. G.G. Jackson had a double-double in that one, stuffing the stat sheet with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Hayden Brown also pumped in 21 points and corralled five rebounds for the Gamecocks in that one.
Next up for South Carolina, they’ll face Colorado State on Nov. 17.
