Findlay (Ohio) four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery has been at the top of South Carolina’s board for some time now. The gunslinger has taken a plethora of trips to Columbia throughout his recruitment and has now locked in his official visit with the Gamecocks.

Montgomery will return for his OV on the weekend of April 20, according to On3’s Chad Simmons. Official visits to Florida (June 14) and Georgia (June 22) have also been added to the schedule.

The Gamecocks are competing with Florida and Georgia for the four-star. Montgomery has already toured the trio once in 2024 and was back in Athens this month. He’s set to return to Gainesville on April 6 before his OV with South Carolina.

A decision for Montgomery is expected before the summer. Earlier this month, South Carolina recruiting insider Chris Clark logged a pick in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine in favor of Montgomery committing to the Gamecocks.

Montgomery is the No. 196 overall prospect and No. 14 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in Ohio.

Montgomery goes in-depth on each of his top three schools

Earlier this month, Montgomery spoke at length with On3’s Phillip Dukes during the ‘Five-Star Flex’ about what makes each program stand out to him.

South Carolina: “Coach Beamer and Coach Loggains, I have a really good relationship with them. They’ve been there since Day 1. And since they started recruiting me, they’ve been true to me. I have a super special with Coach Loggains, he’s someone that I know I would love to be around for the next three to four to five years. And I know my parents would say the same. They’d be comfortable with me being there under Coach Loggains. South Carolina is a super special place, and they’re building something special. They have kind of a family vibe and a family tradition, and it’s very family-oriented.

… They’re going to work super hard but they’re going to have fun doing it. Coach Beamer is fun to be around, just getting to sit in meetings and be on the phone with him. I get nothing but good vibes from him and the whole staff there.”

Florida: “I could say the same thing about them. They’ve been true to me since they started recruiting me as well. I have a really good relationship with Coach Nape and Coach O’Hara. I’ve been there multiple times now, and the game-day atmosphere is probably the best I’ve been to. Back to them, they’re super knowledgeable guys and going there, I know I’d get developed not only as a quarterback but as a person as well. Obviously the resources down there are second to none, and the fan base and tradition there excites me.”

Georgia: “They’re the standard in college football now. Everybody is trying to get to where they’re at. Obviously back to back national championships. I know going there, I’m going to get developed to the NFL and that’s my ultimate goal. Going there under Coach Smart, he runs a great program. And it doesn’t matter they were back-to-back championships three years ago, their practice was the most intense I’ve ever seen. I know going there I’d compete against the best each a every day and that would only make me better. Coach Smart, Coach Bobo, I love a lot and would be super comfortable being arond them for the next 3-5 years.”
