South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley has provided some insight into her playlist. She sent out a tweet with some song lyrics on Saturday afternoon — all while Gamecocks fans await some news on the recruiting trail.

Staley tweeted the lyrics to the Dr. Dre hit “Nuthin’ But A G Thang.” Sure, it could be her song of the day, but the timing of the tweet made it that much more interesting.

A top Gamecocks men’s basketball target is gearing up to commit Saturday afternoon. Five-star power forward GG Jackson recently de-committed from North Carolina and South Carolina fans are waiting to see if he’ll flip his commitment to new coach Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks. He’s announcing his decision Saturday at 3 p.m. ET, he said.

Gamecocks football coach Shane Beamer also got in on the Twitter fun, talking about how great South Carolina is. That said, he’s doing what many fans are doing: staying glued to Twitter until Jackson’s announcement at 3 p.m. ET.

“Blessed to live in South Carolina…Such a beautiful state,” Beamer tweeted, along with a family photo. “And based on the amount of cars on Interstate 26 today everyone else in the country knows it too. Ok….Now back to refreshing Twitter every minute until 3 pm.”

More on GG Jackson

Jackson is the No. 1 player in the country from the class of 2023, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. But On3’s Jamie Shaw reported he could consider a re-classification to the class of 2022 if he decides on South Carolina, adding to the intrigue around his pending commitment.

Jackson became the first player to ever de-commit from North Carolina on July 14, and just nine days later, he’s preparing to announce his decision. On July 3 — 11 days before Jackson announced his de-commitment — Shaw put a prediction into the Recruiting Prediction Machine with 95% confidence he’d end up at South Carolina.
