Dawn Staley recalls meeting with Tom Brady at Paris 2024 Olympics

Dawn Staley was front and center for the Paris 2024 Olympics over the past two weeks. Her trip was well-documented on air and on social media, which included a meeting with Tom Brady.

Staley spotted the seven-time Super Bowl champion at the beach volleyball competition, she revealed during an appearance on the Paul Finebaum. Once the match concluded, there was a commotion in the stands. That ended up being the crowd going wild for Brady.

“I stood up to see what everybody was screaming about. I see it’s Tom Brady and I’m like, oh, let me go do my thing and go meet him,” Staley told Finebaum. “And he was in this little area … He had his back turned by the time we got there.”

The South Carolina women’s basketball coach said that she called out his name. “Tom!”

No response.

“TB?! … He didn’t answer to that, either,” she said.

The next logical thing to do in this situation — make goat noises. Not even that got Staley closer to Brady.

“And then finally, we flagged somebody down that was in the area and said, ‘We need to, we need to meet Tom.’ So he got us in behind where Tom was,” Staley said. “We took a picture with Tom. Tom has a way of looking in your eye and you know how incredibly beautiful he is. He just — he captures your moment, and he makes you feel like you’re the only person in the world, in his world.”

Once Staley and Brady became acquainted in Paris, the longtime New England Patriots quarterback congratulated Staley and her team this past season on an undefeated, national championship-winning year.

She caught Brady up to speed on the story it took for her to meet him. Brady told her he usually answers to the goat noises.

Staley has since returned to U.S. soil since helping NBC with their coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, that wasnt without making numerous cameos alongside some of Team USA’s biggest stars across all sports.

She partied with the eight-time Olympic gold medal-winning Team USA women’s basketball team. Of course, she helped lead that team as a player and a coach on multiple occasions during their historic run.

Staley was also seen with Team USA Track & Field star Sha’Carri Richardson, among many others before arriving back to South Carolina in preparation for the upcoming 2024-25 women’s basketball season.
