With the college football season winding down the coaching carousel is starting to spin up again, leaving many coaches to answer questions about potential openings. Like South Carolina offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains.

Arkansas recently fired offensive coordinator Dan Enos, leading many to wonder if Loggains might be headed back to Fayetteville.

“My family’s happy here,” Loggains said. “My wife’s happy here, my kids are happy in school. So that’s how I’m going to answer that question, be as honest and transparent as I could. I believe in what’s going on here.”

Loggains’ connections to Arkansas are numerous. For one, he spent two years on Pittman’s staff as a tight ends coach just prior to his current stint at South Carolina.

A reunion of sorts — with a probable raise — in Fayetteville could make a lot of sense.

“Look, I understand why my name comes up there,” Dowell Loggains said. “I went to school there. I was born there. I played football there. My wife was a cheerleader there. She’s from Arkansas. I had an unbelievable opportunity to go back and coach at my alma mater, it was awesome. And I hope everyone who aspires to get that gets that.

“On the flip side of that is I really believe in coach (Shane) Beamer. I believe in what we do here. And I think it’s disrespectful to think about anything other than my promise I made to Spencer Rattler when I got here, and Juice Wells and Xavier Legette, when I’m trying to recruit those guys to come back and not enter the transfer portal, to not enter the NFL Draft. What we have here and what we’ve built, it hasn’t been the season we want, but I’m extremely appreciative of the effort that those guys have given, the toughness that Spencer has played through this whole season.”

Never say never, but Loggains is certainly saying the right things if you’re a South Carolina fan. And he’s done a nice job despite some personnel limitations offensively.

South Carolina currently ranks 12th nationally in passing offense.

“There are a lot of players at Arkansas that I got to coach for two years that I deeply care about and still have really good relationships with,” Dowell Loggains said, before once again reiterating he’s pleased with where he is right now.

“I’m here and I’m happy. My wife’s happy. My kids are happy. And I love coming to work every day, and that’s the most important thing to me. Walking through that door I work for a guy that I don’t believe in who he is, but I also believe in why he’s doing it as well.”
