Florida transfer EDGE Kelby Collins eying visit to South Carolina

South Carolina is in the mix for a top transfer portal EDGE. The Gamecocks are potentially set to host Florida transfer Kelby Collins for a visit next week, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.
Collins is eying a visit to South Carolina on Tuesday, Simmons reports. Collins is set to visit Alabama this weekend as he searches for his new home.
Collins entered the transfer portal last week after spending two seasons with the Gators. He appeared in six games this season and finished the year with six tackles. In his true freshman season in 2023, Collins played in all 12 of the Gators’ games. He finished his debut campaign with 23 tackles, 1.5 tackle-for-loss and sacks, four quarterback hurries, a pass breakup and forced fumble.
For his efforts, he was named a member of the Freshman All-SEC team and The Athletic Freshman All-American Second Team. Coming out of high school, Collins chose Florida over Alabama and Georgia.
South Carolina has one of the best defensive lines in the country this season, led by EDGE Kyle Kennard. The Georgia Tech transfer won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy earlier this week, which honors the nation’s top defensive player.
The success Kennard had with the Gamecocks this season could make South Carolina an attractive destination for Kelby Collins and other defensive line transfers.

South Carolina EDGE Elijah Davis enters NCAA transfer portal
While South Carolina is looking to add an EDGE from the transfer portal, the Gamecocks also recently lost one to the portal.
South Carolina EDGE Elijah Davis entered the portal on Wednesday, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Davis is a former JUCO player who joined the Gamecocks in January 2023. He appeared in just one game during the 2024 season.
Prior to that, Elijah Davis appeared in all 12 games during the 2023 campaign. He even made one start. He finished the season with six tackles and a quarterback hurry, with his high-water mark a three-tackle outing against Tennessee.
While the production at South Carolina didn’t necessarily match the hype going in, there will be plenty of teams out there that think they can unlock Davis’ considerable upside with a transfer.
