Josh Simon takes shot at Texas A&M players using field storming
On Saturday, South Carolina fans stormed the field after the Gamecocks handily defeated Texas A&M 44-20. Following the win, South Carolina tight end Josh Simon added insult to injury.
“They were hitting me harder than some of the Texas A&M players,” Simon said of South Carolina’s storming fans, per Jordan Kaye.
Simon didn’t seem to have any trouble against the Aggies’ defense, finishing the game with a season-high 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns on just four catches. Simon’s previous season-high came against Oklahoma when he recorded 43 receiving yards.
Josh Simon was far from the only standout for the Gamecocks. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers led the charge, completing 13-of-his-27 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns.
Sellers’ arm wasn’t his only threat. He also racked up 106 rushing yards and a score on 15 carries. Not to be outdone, running back Raheim Sanders tallied a team-high 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.

Intel on potential head coaching moves
South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer couldn’t have been prouder of his team’s performance.
“I know I say it every year to you guys, but I love coaching this group,” Beamer said. “This team is so much fun to be around. Just the things we do off the field. The togetherness. The closeness of the team. The celebration we just had in the locker room in there. They are just so much fun.”
SEC fines South Carolina for fans storming the field
South Carolina’s fun didn’t come without a cost. For its fans storming the field, South Carolina was fined $250,000 by the SEC. The fine is per the SEC policy for field storming, which was established in June 2023 and states that fines are owed to the opposing institution.
This is South Carolina’s second offense since this policy was established. Gamecocks fans also stormed the court on January 23 after South Carolina defeated No. 6 Kentucky. The SEC fined South Carolina $100,000 for this offense.
The next time South Carolina fans commit an infraction of the “access to competition area,” the university will owe $500,000 to the opposing school. Any future violations of the policy after the third offense will also be punished with a $500,000 fine.
